Peanut Butter Love and Special PB & Co. Give Away

Yummmm, nothing conjures up memories of comfort and childhood contentment more than peanut butter...and jelly on Wonder Bread...but we don't do the refined white carbs anymore.  Peanut butter is a comfort food like none other and because of its high fat content it has been dubbed by many - a food to be avoided.  I'd like to argue for peanut butter, as I am sure many of my nut butter loving blogger friends would as well.  So despite peanut butter's heavenly taste and obnoxious fat content, what is there to love about this vegetable based food?

Well, maybe it is just that. Peanut butter is vegetable based! It comes from the legume or bean family, which means it is a great source of vegetable protein. Peanut butter also has vitamin E, folate, potassium, magnesium and an array of other vitamins and minerals. Yes, peanut butter is high in fat, but the majority of it is the unsaturated heart healthy fat, while a small portion of it is saturated fat.  The ratio of saturated to unsaturated fat in peanut butter is similar to that of olive oil, and olive oil is the main component of the healthiest diet in the world (the Mediterranean Diet).  In addition to ALL the vitamins, minerals, protein and healthy fat, peanut butter is SOO filling.  Incorporating peanut butter into any healthy meal suddenly gives the food staying power equal to that of two meals. Enough said.  Onto the PB snack...

A tasty, easy and healthy peanut butter treat... Nutty Chocolate Dream Balls. All you need is a jar of PB & Co. Dark Chocolate Dreams and some oats!

Pour some oats and a spoonful of the Dark Chocolate Dreams in a bowl.
Mix together well and then roll into small balls.
Set to chill in the refrigerator.
Eat them as early as 30 minutes later!!

These treats are so easy to make that it's hard to believe that they taste as delicious as they do.  The taste is something close to that of chocolate chocolate chip cookie dough. I guarantee that you and your family will love them, and even better, if you have kids, they will LOVE to make them :)  The addition of the oats not only adds to the texture, but it incorporates whole grains and additional fiber.  Peanut Butter & Co peanut butter is  all natural, gluten-free, vegan, free of refined sugar, high fructose corn syrup and trans fat.

The only issue with this peanut butter is that it is soooo good that you really have to open the jar with some serious self control.  Also, I recommend setting aside a small number of Chocolate Dream Balls so that you do not overeat.  I like to pack 3 for my lunch time dessert.

Peanut Butter & Co. has graciously offered to give away three jars of their delicious peanut butter - Dark Chocolate Dreams, Cinnamon Raisin Swirl (A-mazing!) and White Chocolate Wonderful! Enter to win by leaving a comment with your favorite peanut butter creation, also if you are on Twitter follow the Peanut Butter & Co @PeanutButterCo.

I will contact the winner next Saturday to get your shipping info and phone number so that the Peanut Butter & Co. can send out your gifts!  Please note that the gifts can only be sent to a US non PO Box address.  If you do not have a blog to link back to, please leave your email address in the comment box.

I love your blog so much, Xtine! I'm so excited to try the Nutty Chocolate Dream Balls. I add peanut butter to absolutely EVERYTHING--oatmeal, toast and crackers, chicken and vegetables, cheese, bananas, everything! I made a Thai chicken last week with peanut butter. My sister introduced me to Peanut Butter & Co. over Christmas. She bought four jars when she was down here in North Carolina because of how expensive it is in NYC!

You know, I am usually a peanut butter purist and only eat the ones with peanuts and salt on the ingredient list, but I have heard SO MANY people rave about these. I just may have to eat my words.

Yum! I'm so excited your showcasing the pb and giving it some LoVe! My favorite ways to eat pb are old-school style on celery or apples or straight-up on a spoon for a snack lol! Good stuff:)

And thanks for the pb n'oats recipe--easy, simple, and healthy!

Hope you're having a good weekend:)

I went to the PB&Co restaurant once, and their crunchy PB, vanilla cream cheese and chocolate chip sandwich was one of the best things I've ever had! SO rich and tasty :)

my favorite peanut butter concoction is chocolate peanut butter no-bake cookies. they are very close to those delicious peanut butter balls, but have more in them.

Chocolate Peanut Butter No-Bake Cookies.
1 stick butter (try Smart Balance sticks for a healthy alternative)
1/2 cup skim milk
2 C. Splenda (or equivalent sweetener)
3 c. quick cooking oats
1 tsp. vanilla extract
6 T. cocoa
1/2 cup peanut butter

Instructions
Melt butter, milk and Splenda and cocoa in a large saucepan over low heat; stirring frequently.

After mixture is thoroughly melted and blended, bring to a boil for 1 minute.

Remove from heat and immediately add quick cooking oats, vanilla, and peanut butter.

Mix well and drop by tablespoons onto wax paper-lined cookie sheet.

Gently press mixture down with back of spoon. Let cool, then put in storage container or cover.

I've known about PB&Co for years, but only recently discovered it in the grocery stores out here on the West Cost. I've tried Dark Chocolate Dreams with great joy and will next try the one with cayanne in it. My favorite way to eat this peanut butter was to toast some bread, and let it cool(so the PB doesnt melt)spread the Dark Chocolate Dreams on the bread, and add a smooshed banana. Heaven!

It's not much of a creation, but I love apples and peanut butter. Cinnamon Raisin Swirl PB makes this snack a little more exciting :-)

I forgot to add my favorite peanut butter creation for the contest! It has to be my daily breakfast staple. I mix natural peanut butter (either Smooth Operator from PB & Co. or Smuckers) with plain oatmeal, raisins, a little granola and a touch of maple syrup. Most mornings, this is my breakfast, it's so delicious :-)

(p.s. check out my blog www.pbandgay.com)

thanks again! I'm bookmarking you :-)

Peanut butter and bacon on toast. Don't knock it 'til you've tried it. It's faboo with maple bacon and Mighty Maple peanut butter. Great for all-day hikes or any time you need non-perishable protein (although your toast won't stay crispy...)!

Christine said...

Oh wow! Barbara, I definitely will not knock it! Bacon makes everything better! What is your blog? I am not able to link back to you for some reason...Have a great day!

My morning isn't complete without:
1 Tablespoon of PB&Co Mighty Maple Peanut Butter
1 Packet of Instant Oatmeal or Steel Cut Oatmeal
1/2 Cup of Skim Milk
1 Sliced Banana

Mix MMPB, Milk, and Oatmeal together. Microwave according to instructions.
Add sliced banana and microwave for an additional 20 seconds.

Enjoy. It's like a party in your mouth.

I love PB&CO peanut butter and the restaurant! Your recipe looks great, I'll have to try it!

I love using any of the flavors (well, truthfully, not so much Heat Is On) pairing it with cherry jam and grilling it up. So good and decadent. I also love adding white chocolate dreams to my oatmeal! Yum!!

This past weekend I polished off almost half a jar of The Bees Knees. I would dip my finger, a spoon, celery, crackers. Almost anythgin into it. My favorite way to eat it this weekend was spread on stonewheat crackers then topped with sliced bananas.

Ryan said...

Julia - your creation sounds alot like mine. are you stealing my recipe? ;-) I'll have to try it with Mighty Maple.

I love the Bees Knees as well. I like to eat that straight from the jar with a teaspoon.

Christine - thanks for your comment on my blog. it made my day haha. I'm in it to win it!

This is hands down the best blog and comment combo to date! PB balls have become a staple in my diet. I've had at least 3 every day since Saturday, and as many as 6 (oops!) in 24 hours on more than one occasion.
Love your blog, Xtine. I'm so proud of you!
